Sponsor's Checklist for Processing USCIS Form I-129

1.  Petitioner and fiancée must have met in person within two years before filing this petition.

2.  Unmarried children of fiancée under 21 years of age listed on the I-129F will be eligible to apply to accompany fiancée.

3.  Type or print legibly in black ink.

4.  If extra space is needed, attach continuation sheets and indicate the item number, the date, and sign each sheet that is attached to the I-129F

5.  Answer all questions fully and accurately. If item is not applicable, write "N/A" in the space provided. I answer is none, write "none" in the space provided.

6.  Give US Customs and Immigration Service (USCIS) a copy of petitioner's birth certificate (this is just for Paul and Gerald), copied front and back. In place of the birth certificate there are other items that are acceptable to include a copy of a valid unexpired US passport issued with a validity period of at least 5 years. Submit copies of all pages in the passport.

7.  Provide copies of evidence that you and fiancée have personally met within the last two years. ( I will use plane tickets, passport pages, pictures, hotel receipts, store receipts with both our names on the papers, copies of YM messages while in transit, etc.)

8.  Original statements from petitioner and fiancée whom petitioner plans to marry within 90 days of admission to the USA and copies of evidence petitioner wishes to submit to establish mutual intent. I am suggesting that a letter be typed or hand written that reads like this: " My dearest (name of fiancee alien/sponsor), I love you very much and I know you love me very much. I want to marry you (name of fiancee alien/sponsor) as soon as we are together in the United States but within ninety days of arrival here in the USA. Sponsor writes in his/her letter: I will be a faithful, loving husband/wife and I will provide for your comfort and sustenance for the rest of our lives as husband and wife. God bless our future together as husband and wife." Signed in front of a notary for validity. So letter will not be signed or dated until a notary is present. Fiancee alien will do the same. Then fiancee will express mail by Federal Express all the official documents she/he is required to provide.

9.  Copies of documents showing that each prior marriage was legally terminated. (For example, provide copy of death certificate of former spouse or annulment decree of former spouse for both sponsor and for alien fiancee. Also provide biographical information for petitioner and same for fiancée on the required USCIS form.

11. Passport-style color photographs of petitioner and fiancée taken within 30 days of the date of filing this petition. Photos must have white background, be glossy, un-retouched and not mounted. Dimension of full frontal facial images should be about one inch from chin to top of hair in 3/4 frontal view. With a pencil or felt tip pen, lightly print name on back of each photo ( and alien registration number, if known.)

12. If petitioner or fiancée is using a name other than that shown on relevant documents, petitioner must give USCIS copies of legal documents that made the change, such as marriage certificate, adoption decree or court order.

13. Fee to file this form in 2008 was $170.00. Write petitioner's name on face of check. Double check on the web site for USCIS that the fee has not changed. www.uscis.gov. Scroll down to forms and e-filing to find the fee.
